My Boys :)

My Baby :)
All pistons now like brand new
getting ready to install new pushrod tubes and seals
slowly coming back together

about to torque heads down
number 3 and 4 cylinders back on

yay
ahhh ... clean

I bought a spare 28 PICT 1 Solex carb to learn how it's put together.  I'd rather do it on this than the one that came off of my motor that I know works.

My carb all cleaned.  Cleaned out jets and put new gasket.  Swapped some parts out from donor carb
I grinded the old paint off of the intake manifold and more importantly, I drilled out the carbon build up in the heat riser pipes.  It was 99.9 percent clogged !
I used Quick Steel ( high temp up to 500 degrees ) to patch the holes I drilled.  I used a 1 / 4 inch, 18 inch long drill to clear out the carbon.

Primed for final paint.
Flat aluminum ( high temp engine enamel up to 2000 degrees ) used for final paint

Picked up a low profile 3.25 ton jack

Looks like a sports car

Notice the dirt and grime built up between the cylinders .. no cooling happening there
tons dirt scraped off
close up
oil leaking from worn pushrod tube seals .. will be replacing soon

carbon build up on top of pistons ...
planning on having the heads rebuilt
no more dirt and grime between cylinders
wow .. air deflectors caked with crap ...
ahhh .. better

close up of cylinder fins .. no cooling happening here

now were getting somewhere ..

cleaning other air deflector

getting case cleaned

tools used to clean carbon off of pistons .. not pictured is elbow grease
dropped off to have heads rebuilt and tins bead blasted ..

picked up heads .. looks brand new

position I held piston to scrape off carbon
progress ...

happily, I find that I have 83 mm pistons rather that 77 mm
sweet !
